After adding the national title in the high jump at the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships to his indoor crown, Texas A&M-Kingsville sophomore Jeron Robinson was named the 2013 Lone Star Conference Outdoor Field Athlete of the Year.
Robinson, who won both titles with the identical mark of 2.24m (7’4-1/4″), had the best outdoor mark in Division II with a height of 2.26m (7’5″) at the Javelina Twilight in April. Robinson’s 7’5″ height was tied for fifth best amongst all collegians, while his winning height at the national outdoor championship would have tied for third at the DI Championship. He was the lone athlete to clear 7-feet at the NCAA DII indoor meet.
Teammate Jordan Yamoah won the LSC Male Field
Athlete of the Year during the indoor season.
Along with triple jump national champion C.J. Griggs, Robinson is training for the U.S. Outdoor Track & Field Championships. The meet will be held from June 20-23 at Drake Stadium in Des Moines, Iowa.
