Javelina Volleyball gets first conference win versus Aggies

The first conference victory for the Texas A&M Kingsville Javelina volleyball team came tonight after defeating the Cameron University Aggies in straight sets, 3-0(25-19, 25-17, 25-22) at Kingsville Hampton Inn court.

Head Coach Tanya Allen was pleased to get the effort following the win inspite of minor errors in tonight’s performance.

“It felt good… we got the win at home, “ said Allen. “ I’ll go back and evaluate mistakes, but we won,”

Sophomore Lauryn Lozano and Freshman Kelsey Washington were the top performers for the Javelinas, with 19 kills and 12 kills respectively.

“We play to win,” Lozano said. “It was good to get the win at home.

Also contributing to the Javelina efforts, Ali Insell as she had 16 digs, which came up to be big for the Javelina defensive game.

The Javelinas finished defensively with 3 blocks and are now 3-4 overall, (1-4) in conference play.

The Javelinas will play the second of a five–game home stand against Midwestern State starting at 1 p.m. at Kingsville Hampton Inn court.
