Men’s Basketball Picked Ninth in Preseason Poll

RICHARDSON, TEXAS – The Lone Star Conference revealed its 2011-12 Men’s Basketball Preseason Poll on Wednesday via video at .

Texas A&M-Kingsville was picked ninth in the poll with 70 points. The Javelinas open their season on November 11 against UT-Permian Basin in Laredo, TX. The first home game is November 15 at 7 p.m. against Texas A&M-International.

Tarleton State was picked first in the poll with 255 points and 11 first place votes. They were followed by Midwestern State (244 points, 10 first place votes), West Texas A&M (207, 2), A&M-Commerce (175, 1), Eastern New Mexico (162, 2), Angelo State (156, 2), Incarnate Word (106), Cameron (100), A&M-Kingsville (70) and Abilene Christian (65).

The LSC has 10 men’s and 11 women’s teams set to play this season, and the league competition should be as tight as ever. Each team is playing a double round-robin conference schedule with 18 conference games for the men’s teams and 20 on the women’s side. The 2011-12 season begins November 11.

This season features an exciting change of venue for the LSC Basketball Championship with games taking place at the Allen Event Center in Allen, Texas. The $52.6 million state-of-the-art facility, which opened in November 2009, is city owned with approximately 8,000 seats in the basketball configuration plus 24 luxury suites.
