KINGSVILLE, TEXAS ā€“ The Texas A&M-Kingsville volleyball team evened up the season series with Lone Star Conference rival Eastern New Mexico on Thursday night with a 25-21, 25-21, 23-25, 25-21 victory at Kingsville Hampton Inn Court. (box score)

The Javelinas (11-9, 5-8) had a clear edge on the attack for most of the match. It appeared that they would win the match in three sets, but a late run by the Zias (5-16, 1-11) late in the third set forced a fourth frame. Neither team attacked particularly well in the fourth set, but the Hoggies took the win when Stephanie Johns (Lubbock/Coronado HS) served up an ace on match point.

The Javelinas pounded out 58 kills in the match and had a .248 attack percentage. Lauryn Lozano (San Antonio/Smithson Valley HS) and Kelsey Washington (Cuero/Cuero HS) led the squad with 14 kills apiece. Lozano had a .444 attack percentage and two blocks while Washington had a .310 attack percentage and three digs. Lakeshia Craft (Pflugerville/Connally HS) added 11 kills, a team high .556 attack percentage and three blocks.

The Javelina offense was directed by the duo of Sondra Cui (Schertz/Steele HS) and Giselle Carreon (Corpus Christi/Carroll HS) had 27 and 23 assists, respectively. Bethany Friesenhahn (Poth/Poth HS) added nine kills, two blocks and a team high 17 digs

The Zias had 49 kills on a .225 attack percentage. Amber Durand had the only double-double of the match with 13 kills, 11 digs and a .211 attack. Jessica King had 11 kills and three blocks while Kristen Beck had 11 kills and five blocks. Kennedi Catano led all players with 41 assists.
