Dr. Brian Shelton to leave TAMUK

Dr. Brian Shelton, music professor, has recently relinquished his position of Director of Bands at Texas A&M University-Kingsville.

Shelton has announced that he has taken the Director of Bands position at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi via e-mail to all of the current and incoming members of the Javelina Marching Band, which is mostly comprised of music majors.

According to the e-mail, Shelton will continue to teach graduate classes throughout the summer sessions, but will no longer be in charge of band matters. Dr. Jason Kihle, Assistant Director of Percussion, has agreed to be the Interim Director of Bands for the upcoming year.

Dr. Shelton has been the Director of Bands at TAMUK since August of 2006. He directed the Wind Symphony, University Band and the Javelina Marching Band, and supervised student teachers.
