Former Texas A&M-Kingsville football player Jeremy Aguilar was named to the 2012 D2Football.com All-America Second Team at linebacker on Thursday.
This is the third postseason honor for Aguilar following the 2012 Javelina football season.
Aguilar was also selected to the Don Hansen NCAA Division II All-Super Region Four team earlier in the year, and was a first-team All-Lone Star selection and one of two LSC players named to the AFCA All-America team.
He finished the 2012 season with a team-best 97 tackles in 11 games, according to Javelina Sports Information Director, Aaron Ames. He had with 48 solo tackles and a team-best 12.5 tackles for a loss. Aguilar had double-digit stops three times with 14 against Midwestern State, 12 at Valdosta State and 10 at Tarleton. He forced three fumbles and intercepted a pair of passes.
In the Javelinas’ trip to the Kanza Bowl, Aguilar finished his career with a team-best nine tackles with a sack. He had 4-1/2 tackles for a loss in the game to lead all players.
