Although the Javelinas couldn’t make it to the playoffs, they gained a shot at the Kanza Bowl after defeating the Eastern New Mexico Greyhounds this past Saturday, Nov. 10.
The victory came after a disheartening defeat against the Valdosta State Blazers in Valdosta, Georgia.
The Javelinas led most of the game by a touchdown, but ultimately sealed their fate with a huge victory of 33-13.
Quarterback Nate Poppell pushed the team into the Kanza Bowl by getting the hogs four touchdowns.
The Kanza Bowl is an NCAA Division II Football Bowl. The game
puts Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association (MIAA) against the Lone Star Conference (LSC).
The Bowl game will be held at Hummer Park in Topeka, Kansas on Nov. 25.
This will be TAMUK’s first appearance in the Kanza Bowl, along with opposing team Emporia State Hornets.
