Coach’s confidence and strong play keys for AMK baseball success

A coach who just recorded his 100th win, a player with a current 17- game hitting streak, having a pitching staff that is ranked in the top 10 in the nation and No. 1 in its conference and having a team that is currently tied for first place in its conference and climbing in the Nationally rankings.
No, I’m not talking about the Texas Rangers baseball team, I’m talking about the Texas A&M- Kingsville baseball team.
The team seems to have everything clicking for them right now. They are coming off a four-game sweep of a conference rival in which we saw dominant pitching from all four starting pitchers and strong hitting all through the line-up.
The Javelinas are currently heading into their last week of regular season play and are eyeing a deep run in postseason play. “ The way our team is playing lately, it is putting us in a position to play for a championship,” said head coach Jason Gonzales.
Javelina starting pitcher Jaden Dillon is currently leading the pitching staff for AMK with an 8-0 record and a ERA of 1.39. The is leading a pitching staff that is ranked in top 10 in the nation for Division II. The Javelina pitching staff has been a huge key to the success of the team all season long.
As far as the Javelinas hitting is concerned, there is not too much to worry about there either. The team has been able to slowly raise its  batting average to .283.
Leading the charge for the Javelinas at the plate has been Cameron Dullnig, a.k.a Mr. Everything. The name fits because he does so much for the team. To go along with leading the team in batting average at .377. He also leads the team in saves with nine, and to top that off he has played mostly every position for the Javelinas this season at least once.
The Javelinas only have five more regular season games  before heading in to the LSC tournament in  May. The Javelinas end the season with a four-game series agaisnt conference foe Incarnate Word, who was  ranked No.1 in the LSC in the preseason poll but currently sit in the third spot in the conference. The series is shaping up to be a good one because you have both teams who are fighting for postion atop the LSC.
Coach Gonzales said “ I’m excited and the players are excited for the series its going to be a hard fought one and its going to be a good series to end the regular season.”
AMK has the weapons this season to take on any team in the nation and with the teams confidence where it is at right now, I’m pretty sure the team is thinking the same thing. I would really hate to be the team that has face the Javelinas come playoff time because they are going to have their hands full trying to think of a way to beat a team that right now has little to no holes in their game.
