For the Men and Women Javelina cross country teams at Texas A&M Kingsville , the start to the 2011 season couldn’t have gone any better as they won both of their respective races  at the Texas A&M-International Invitational Saturday morning.

The Men took a 31-26 victory against the host team of A&M International. Javelina senior Kiya Dadena won the 8,000 meter race, with a finishing time of 25:59, while Brett Arrendondo finished for the Hoggies in third place, finishing with 28:04.

The Javelina women had their presence felt with four runners finishing in the top 10, most notably Freshman Rebekah Jimenez who finished the 6,000  meter race with a finishing time of 24:53.

Both teams will return for action when they compete at the Six Flags Fiesta Texas Classic in San Antonio on September 16.
