Author and activist Naomi Wolf will be featured as the first 2012 Texas A&M University Kingsville University guest of the Lectureship Series. The acclaimed author of the “The Beauty Myth” (New York Times Best Seller) will visit March 6 at 7 p.m. in the Jones Auditorium.
Wolf, who has written controversial books like “The End of America,” will present “The Beauty Myth Revisited.” This lecture is based on her book, published in 1991, “The Beauty Myth.” The presentation will talk about the images of beauty instilled in the young minds of both men and women are still being used against women.
Wolf, who is no stranger to advocating for women, has appeared in various publications. She has written other feminist works including, “Fire with Fire: The New Female Power and How It Will Change The 21st Century,” “Promiscuities: The Secret Struggle for Womanhood” and “Misconceptions: Truth, Lies and the Unexpected Journey to Motherhood.” Her book “The End of America: A Letter of Warning to a Young Patriot,” was adapted into a documentary.
Wolf’s lecture will be free of cost and open to the general public.
