It’s a brand new year, and it will be the first full-fledged season for the Texas A&M University-Kingsville women’s tennis team.   Six women are currently on the roster, including seniors Sondra Cui and Whitney Roth and freshmen Azia Hinojosa, Danielle Moore, Linda Pennington and Victoria Rios.
Head coach Josh Moore is looking forward to seeing nothing but progress going into the 2012 season.
“Being a first-year program, the expectations are to keep improving,” Moore said. “And to get as much experience and improvement as possible.”
The Lady Javelinas have so far had a rough start this season, with a record of 0-6.
Of the roster, coach Moore has high expectations for Danielle, a freshman from San Antonio.
“Danielle Moore is the one we expect the most out of,” said Moore.

So far this season, the freshman has a personal record of 3-6 in singles, and a 1-5 record in doubles competition.
The Lady Javelina tennis team will be back in action on Friday March 2, as they travel to Edinburg and play UT- Pan American.
“It’s all about working hard, to set the goals each and every day, and accomplish long term improvement, also self confidence going into the conference tournament and also going into the new year,” said Moore.
