The Texas A&M-Kingsville football team had two players named to the Daktronics All-America Second Team on Wednesday afternoon as voted upon by the Collegiate Sports Information Directors of America.
Junior linebacker Jeremy Aguilar (Los Angeles, CA/Roosevelt HS) was named to the defensive unit and junior running back Jonathan Woodson (Missouri City/Marshall HS) was named to the offensive unit.
Aguilar is the second Javelina linebacker to earn Daktronics All-America Second Team honors in two years joining Tressor Baptiste who earned the award last year. Aguilar racked up 91 tackles, 14.0 tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks, five pass breakups, 11 quarterback hurries and an interception this year. He previously earned Daktronics Super Region Four First Team, Lone
Star Conference First Team and LSC Linebacker of the Year honors.
Woodson, a four-time track & field All-American, led NCAA Division II with 209.9 all-purpose yards per game. He rushed for 1,017 yards on 6.3 yards per carry becoming only the eleventh player in school history to rush for over 1,000 yards in a season. His 2,309 all-purpose yards for the season is the third best total in school history behind Johnny Bailey¹s 1988 and 1986
seasons. He set the school single season and career records for kick return yards during the 2011 season while also snagging 50 catches for 556 yards and scoring 14 total touchdowns. He was previously named Daktronics Super Region Four First Team and LSC First Team at running back and LSC First Team as a kick returner.
