KINGSVILLE – It was a sad and mournful memorial for Travis Madden, the Texas A&M University – Kingsville (AMK) student and member of the Javelina baseball team who passed away this past Sunday.
The Memorial was held at the Church of Epiphany Episcopal in Kingsville.
Many members of the AMK family, including faculty, staff and coaches, were in attendance along with the Javelina baseball team. Many of Madden’s friends joined others in the community who attended to show their respect to the Madden family.
Jason Gonzales, the head coach for the baseball team, said a few words about Travis as a player and a student. Coach “Seeing everyone who showed up to pay their respects tonight helps the healing process,” Gonzales told those in attendance.
Also on hand was Terisa Riley, Vice President of Student Affairs and Kirsten Compary, the Dean of Students, also spoke during the service.
Dr. Steven Tallant, president of the university, was on hand and had this to say. “This is something that effects the University as a whole, and it is sad to have something tragic like this happen around this time of the year.” He also went on to add that the university is just here to help the Madden family anyway they can.
