The Lady Javelinas have a streak going here, but it is not the kind of streak they want has they drop their six straight game as they suffer another loss, this time to the hands of the Tarleton State TexAnns.
For the past couple of games here for the Lady Javelinas it has been the tale of two half’s has the team can’t seem to put a complete game together.
The Javelinas came out in the first half going shot for shot with the TexAnns, but their defense still wasn’t playing up to par as they allowed Tarleton to shot 46 percent from the floor and put up 40 points in the first half , but thanks in part to the Lady Javelinas having their offense actually keeping them in the game even though they only shot 35 percent from the floor 33 percent from behind the three point line the Javelinas were actual able to go in to the half only down by seven points with a score of 40 -33.
“They played more aggressively….able to get a couple of steals,” Coach Trujillo Had that to say about the first half of play from his team saying that they were able to change it up a bit and it showed going in to the half.
Coming out in the second half the Javelinas were looking to continue their strong play, as the season and the stats would show that wouldn’t be the case, as the Javelinas came out the half sluggish and relaxed on defense as they allowed Tarleton State to extend that once seven point lead in to a 24 point lead half through the second half Coach Trujillo saying “We just have those times in each game where we don’t play good defense, and we give up to many easy shots”
The Javelinas weren’t able to match the intensity of the TexAnns in the second half , as they weren’t able to get any shots to fall in the second half ,and the defense giving up four shots from beyond the three point line, the Javelinas once again couldn’t do much to come back in the game as they had to take another painful loss as they watch Tarleton state walk off the court with a 15 point victory beating AMK 80-65.
“ We got to teach the players to turn it on [intensity] and keep it on for an entire game” also stating “ It’s a working process and its something I see that’s getting better game by game.”
On the night the Javelinas ended the game shooting a miserable 30 percent from the floor and shot themselves in the foot again turning the ball over 24 times during the game.
The Javelinas were led in scoring Brandi Clark and Roslyn Robbins who both had ten points on the night and also chipping in for AMK was Inekka Stevenson with eight points and nine rebounds.
With the loss the Lady Javelinas fall to (1-7)(0-3) on the season . The Lady Javelinas get a break coming up with finals but they will take the court again on Dec.17 as they travel up to Wichita Falls and face Midwestern State.
