Both the men’s and women’s cross country team placed second for the Javelinas at the 11th annual UIW invitational in Live Oak, Texas, as four Javelinas finished in the top ten in their categories amidst Division-I and Division-II competitors.
The men’s team finished second in the 8k run racking up a total of 31 points with a time of 25:51, while the women finished second in the 6k with a time of 24:29 earning them 54 points.
Javelina standouts included Jose Ventura IV, who dropped his time in the 8k once again to 24:32.
That would be Ventura’s personal record, which earned him a third place finish.
Freshman standout Jasiah Patterson earned eighth place with a time of 25:39.
For the women’s team, Jade Guerrero earned seventh place in the 6k with a time of 23:26, while Kaitlyn Tharp finished with a time of 23:41 earning her ninth place.
The UIW invitational is the last meet in the Javelinas’ regular season.
The Hoggies have one week to prepare, as the Lone Star Conference Championships approach in Commerce, Texas on Oct. 22.
