Great amounts of people have a fear of clowns. Other people find clowns to be funny. I just want to say one thing, these clown hoaxes aren’t funny at all! These clown hoaxes have spiraled out of control and have been appearing across the United States because of social media. These hoaxes have been creating false alarms and have been a waste of time to school officials and local law enforcement.
Personally, I am not afraid of clowns. Do I think they are funny? Sometimes. Do I think they should be appearing at any given moment? No.
Clowns are usually seen in movies, at a kid’s party or when it’s time to dress up for Halloween. But just thinking that a clown could appear on the TAMUK campus brings a chill down my spine. In fact, recently there was a clown on our campus, but he seems to have disappeared, which is a good thing. I never saw the clown but just knowing that a college student would partake in these clown hoaxes is disappointing.
These clown hoaxes that have been happening all over the United States have all been a joke. Most if not all reports of these clowns are all a joke. Only one or two cases have been connected to a clown actually causing harm to someone. If anything, most of these clown sightings and reports of clowns are just kids, using social media to either get out of school or to mess with their friends. However, local authorities have to take every precautionary measure and investigate each clown sighting that is reported to ensure there is no danger present. Authorities have to waste valuable time and resources to investigate all of these reports. Instead these clowns should just stop, so that police could focus on catching real criminals, and not these clowns.
All hoaxes, in general, are just something that shouldn’t be played around with. For all the people who were involved in any way with any clown hoax, just know that you are creating a false sense of danger. For the TAMUK clown, I’m glad that you are gone, and I’m glad that no harm came to you or to others. Students shouldn’t have to be worrying about these clowns on campuses and instead have more important things to worry about.
