On March 25, 2016, the Staff Council of Texas A&M University-Kingsville held its annual Staff Appreciation Luncheon, where three staff members honored with the prestigious Employee of the Year awards. This award is given to those who exhibit hard work and dedication in their respective departments.
Tim Savage was an honoree under the technical category. Working closely with iTech, Savage’s role involves keeping TAMUK connected to any and all communications sources. He is the individual in charge of setting up and connecting the TAMUK community to the internet, as well as connecting phones throughout the campus. Savage noted that he is, “happy for the other honorees, and appreciates the recognition of his hard work.”
In the clerical category, Elisa Guerra of the College of Arts and Sciences was an honoree. As the office manager in the College of Arts and Sciences, her duties include making sure that the office runs smoothly, as well as working under the dean and as a liaison to the 12 departments that make up the College of Arts and Sciences. Guerra expressed of the recognition: “This is an amazing honor, and is made special because a department colleague nominated [me].”
In the professional category, Juan Garza of the Office of Enterprise Risk Management was an honoree. His title is manager of Environmental Health and Safety, and his duties include establishing Environmental Health and Safety Programs, and maintaining an environment that is both free of hazards and is in compliance with environmental regulations.
This award goes to the staff members of Texas A & M – Kingsville who have dedicated their time and effort into improving our campus; it stands as a congratulations to all who have contributed work that promotes a culture of excellence at TAMUK.
