Beginning Thursday, March 10, and ending Friday, March 11, Texas A&M University-Kingsville will be home to the fourth annual South Texas Student Success Conference: Creating a Culture of Learning Through Undergraduate Research.
Sponsored by The Center for Student Success, The Center for Teaching Effectiveness, and the Title V Integrating a Culture of Academic and Research Grant, this two-day event is focused on the topic of undergraduate research programs.
The keynote speaker for the event is Dr. Jeffery Osborn, dean of the School of Science and professor of Biology at The College of New Jersey. As an advocate for the advancement of undergraduates and faculty who are often underrepresented in higher education, and having led multiple programs to support the institutionalization of undergraduate research programs, Osborn will deliver his address at 11:30 a.m. at MSUB Ballroom A, on March 11.
Pre-conference events begin March 10, with a panel discussion taking place from 3:30-5:00 p.m., in MSUB 219; this will be followed by a reception in the Founder’s Room from 5:30-7:00 p.m.
The next day, March 11, workshops will be held from 9:00-11:15 a.m. at MSUB 219A. Faculty Opportunities Sessions will be held at the same time in MSUB 219B, followed by the keynote address at 11:30 at MSUB Ballroom A, and concluding with one final workshop, lasting from 1:15-3:15 p.m. in MSUB 221 AB.
