Javelina Athletics has partnered with KIII-TV for a new half-hour sports show airing at 11 p.m. on Saturday on the local ABC affiliate.
Hosted by sports anchors Chris Thomasson and Ian Steele, the Javelina Sports Show covers all Texas A&M-Kingsville sports. Its first episode last Saturday focused on the National Signing Day for Javelina football.
Head coach Daren Wilkinson and running backs coach Jaime Martinez were the first guests.
They maintained the same level of confidence they had at the press conference last month, talking more about the high school players they brought in this year’s recruiting class.
“We want to get the guys here locally. So we try to make sure there is a coach at each one of those games”, Martinez said.

“We already got a couple of guys from [Corpus Christi King] there. We’re just going to get the gang back together and go hard,” said Hasain Newsome, a star running back from King.
Kai Youngberg, a safety from Flour Bluff can’t wait to hit the field in Kingsville, “It’s not too far from home, so grandma and grandpa can come watch me play.”
Wilkinson also announced dates for spring football.
He said the first day of practice on March 23 and the spring football game on April 23.
