Javelina Women continue long slide, drop 30th straight conference game

Kingsville-

The Javelina Women’s Basketball team’s conference futility continued Thursday night at the Hampton Inn court, as they fell to the Texan’s Womens University Pioneers 66-55.

The Javelinas stumbled out of the gate, allowing the Pioneers to spot six points on the board. before Jamesha Wade sunk a free throw The Hoggies battled back tied it up 12 courtesy of an Ashley Viera layup right before the end of the first quarter

However, in the second quarter the Pioneers went on yet another run, this time scoring seven straight points. I took nearly five minutes for the Javelinas to score in the second quarter.

Ote Ibrahim accounted for eight of the Javelinas’ 21 first half ponts. She finished the night with 10 points and six rebounds.  Ashley Viera followed shortly behind her with seven points.

The Pioneers cruised comfortably though the second half. They went on yet another six point run and kept at least a nine point difference through the entire half.

The Javelinas are far out of the Lone Star Conference standings and will miss the tournament in Allen in March.  They have two more regular season games left to play, first against Cameron in Lawton, Oklahoma Saturday and against Angelo State in the Steinke Phyiscal Education Center in Kingsville
