Spring is the season of colorful flowers, the occasional allergy attacks, and at Texas A&M University-Kingsville, the annual Spring Fling. The date set for Spring Fling is Wednesday, March 30 at 7: p.m. It will be held down University Boulevard.
This event is being organized by the Campus Activities Board (CAB) and their advisor, Loreal Robertson. Spring Fling gives student organizations a much-needed chance to fundraise for events that will take place later in the spring. It also gives students and members of our community a nice, calm event after the storm of spring break.
About 80 to 90 student organizations, with a max capacity of 100 organizations, participate in this event. Spring Fling helps these student organizations give back to our community by selling food, providing fun filled games, and giving everyone who attends a fun-filled time.
A musical performance will be provided by Lillie Lemon, a band that with an indie electro-pop vibe. The duo, comprised of Lillie Lemon and Erica Wobbles, was chosen after the members of the CAB attended a conference that the band was performing at.
The Spring Fling is set to be a fun night, so get out of the dorms and apartments, get your friends together, and have a grand time supporting all the wonderful organizations that put this event together. Amanda Sandoval, an animal science major, has high hopes for the evening, saying, “This is one of the events that my friends and I look forward to….we walk, eat, and enjoy the music.”
Any organization that would like to participate can apply through Collegiate Link, which can be accessed through Blue and Gold, starting the first week of March. Any questions can be directed at the Student Activities building, located next to the Marc Cisneros Center for Young Children and across from Lynch Hall.
